In the first place, teacher He Dandan recommended the book ‘Self-Driven Growth’, aiming to teach parents how to develop drive in their children. Specifically, the key to developing drive is to give control back to children. As parents, we have to see the big picture in that our purpose is not to raise an obedient child or a test machine, but to raise a child who can face the good and bad of life independently and can grow up for life.

In the second place, teacher Mao Li recommended the book ‘Be a Warm Educator’, which elaborates that education is not a quick fix. Nevertheless, most of the objects of education are somewhat eager for quick success. How can we resolve this contradiction intelligently? The author thinks that educational wisdom should be gentle, peaceful and durable. Therefore, he thought ‘warm’ would be a better word. When you are warm, others will feel warm, too, which is education.

In the third place, teacher Huang Xiaohui recommended the book ‘Care about Every Bird’, which is a monologue from an educator. Education can only be done well with conscience. In the process of education, if we can care about ‘every bird’, we will make every class filled with ‘birds and flowers’, demonstrating a furious spring. Therefore, how happy it would be to adapt to the ‘differences’ of each child.

In the fourth place, teacher Liu Shanshan recommended the book ‘the Temple of Earth and Me’, through which it seems that we can see the silhouette of Shi Tiesheng's life. Also, through Shi Tiesheng's eyes, we can see the brilliance of life in the barren field in addition to the freedom and openness of life in the weeds and withered vines. What’s more, after reading this book, we can touch the vein of ordinary life from the meaningful words and touching plots, feeling the beauty of all things in time and  the ease of making the best of things. When we see through life, we still love life...

In the fifth place, teacher Zhao Jing recommended the book ‘Teaching Work’, which mentions that an educator should first understand people, because countless facts tell us that in order to educate students, we must first understand them. Just as a gardener who grows flowers must first understand the habits of the flowers, so a doctor who cures diseases must first understand the diseases of his patients. Thus, how can we get to know the hearts of students? It’s believed that the methods mentioned in the book can offer us great inspiration.

Last but not the least, teacher Yang Jun recommended the book ‘Wait for a Flower to Bloom’, which records the author's experience and sentiment on the journey of life in the past ten years as well as his views on the ordinary world, among which there are many golden quotes. Reading meticulously, we are impressed by his humor and wit, and also moved by his golden words.

To sum up, at the end of the activity, Director Xu Yanxia made a summary of the reading salon program, which has not only achieved the purpose of exchange, sharing and mutual promotion, but also allowed teachers to broaden their horizons, increase their knowledge, enlighten their wisdom, and understand the true meaning of education in the meantime.
